Indrajith's Head

Theatre Play

Enraged by the death of his uncle Khumbakarana, Indrajith — the son of Raavana — enters battle to destroy the Ayodhya brothers, Rama and Lakshmana. Lakshmana fires his sharp arrow, destroying Indrajith's chariot and armour. Terrified, Indrajith flees to Lanka to perform a yaga to attain invincibility.

Meanwhile, Raavana sends Mahodaran to war to keep Lakshmana occupied. Indrajith shoots Lakshmana with the Brahmastra, stunning Rama and his troops. Lord Hanuman goes to bring the herb Sanjeevi to revive Lakshmana. Indrajith creates an illusion of Sita being slain before Hanuman to distract the vanaras while completing his yaga.

Vibhishana doubts Indrajith's acts, confirms Sita is alive, and learns of the yaga being performed at Nigumalai. The mighty trio — Lakshmana, Hanuman, and Vibhishana — destroy the yaga, weakening Indrajith. Forced back into battle by Raavana, who refuses to release Sita, Indrajith meets his end. Lakshmana slays Indrajith's head and takes it to Lord Rama as a sign of victory.
